FAQ
What is your process for a commission?
After having a discussion through email and agreeing on the details of the commission, I will provide a simple commission contract that lays out the terms. I ask for a 50% deposit of the painting price to start the artwork. Depending on the subject matter, I may or may not provide a sketch before starting. Due to the nature of the subject matter that I paint, typically a sketch is not needed.
After the contract is approved and the deposit is received, I will start on the artwork. When the painting is completed, I will send photos for the client's feedback and final approval. Because I paint with airbrush, most of the time revisions are not possible. On final approval, the remaining balance (50% + shipping cost) is due prior to shipment or delivery.
What do you charge for commissioned paintings?
Prices vary depending on size and complexity of the artwork. Generally paintings start at $250 and go up from there.
All commissioned artwork requires a non-refundable 50% down payment. This is to cover material costs and hold your spot in my work queue. Please note that a contract will be sent to you and must be signed before I am able to proceed with making the artwork.
What subject matter do you like to paint?
For my airbrush paintings, I really love painting vintage toys and ceramic figurines. Painting those types of images is what I’m currently focusing on, but I’m open to other subject matter as well. Please note that I’m not able to accept all commissions - if I don’t feel that I’m a good fit for the project (example: if the imagery is not in line with my style of work ) I may decline moving forward.
How long do commissioned paintings take to complete?
I typically like to allow 2-4 weeks to complete the painting - shipping time is not included in this. If the subject matter or size is more complex, more time may be needed, but this will be discussed before proceeding with an order. If you need the painting by a specific date, please let me know at the time of inquiry so we can plan accordingly.
What forms of payment do you accept?
PayPal, Venmo and credit card payments are accepted. I am not responsible for lost payment. All commissioned artwork requires a 50% down payment in order for me to begin your piece. The remaining 50% balance will be due at the time of completion. Paintings are only shipped once full payment is received. If final payment is not received within 60 days, the painting will be added to my online shop instead.
What if I don’t like the painting?
In the rare case that you aren’t satisfied with the final painting, please be aware that I am unable to make changes once the painting is complete. However I will try my best to find a suitable resolution! If you decide you no longer want the painting, you are not required to pay the remaining 50% balance and the painting will be made available to the public. Please be aware that the original 50% deposit is non-refundable.
Do you ship the artwork yourself?
Yes! I carefully wrap and ship each piece myself. All shipping is sent with tracking info and signature confirmation to ensure that it arrives to you. I am not responsible for lost or stolen packages once they are scanned into the UPS/USPS system.
If a package is not able to be delivered or sent back to me due to incorrect address, etc, buyer will be responsible for covering shipping costs to have the package re-sent.
Shipping cost depends on weight and size of the package, which will be discussed at the time of your initial inquiry. Please be prepared to provide your address so I can give you an accurate quote.
If you are local (Southern California) and would like to pick up the artwork in person from Classic Tattoo, we can arrange for a time for you to do so.I also accept international orders for commissions! In these cases, you are responsible for any customs charges.
Are there any images that you would like to paint?
Absolutely! Below are some references for things I would love to paint. All of these are available as commissions. If you see something that you love or have similar images in mind, please let me know! <3
